Hi,

I am new to GX and only used at working with CMS-es like ModX and Symphony and working with languages suchs as XHTML, XSLT and PHP.

I just installed a fresh installation of GX Community edition, but now I don't know where to begin. Where are my templates located? How can I change the HTML? I noticed some files deeply hidden away in like 20 subfolders but is that where my working environment is?

Any leads to where to begin are highly appreciated.

Hi!

Did you browse the Documentation secion ((https://connect.gxsoftware.com/Software/Documenta tion.htm)) ?

There is everything you need to know:
* Content management
* Developer information
* System Administrator information
* etc!

Good luck!

Yeah, I browsed there, but I couldn't find which file was helpfull. I tried the 'Design API' but I couldn't make much of it.

I understood step 2.1 'collect the html by pressing ctrl-s in firefox' although it made me think: 'oh my god, are they serious?'. Anyway, assuming that I have created correct XHtml templates from my design I went to the next step.

However, I grinded to a total halt at step 2.2 'create a presentation WCB'. Where should I do this? the command prompt does not recognize the mvn-command.

Please read the "WCB Development - Quick start (GXD0055)". Section 1.1 tells you about Maven (mvn) and Chapter 6 is about the presentation element.

It is possible to follow a WebManager training at GX Software

I tried the first instructions, but when I execute Maven I get the error:

ERROR: JAVA_HOME not found in your environment.
Please set the JAVA_HOME variable in your environment to match the location of your Java installation

...see the installation instructions on http://maven.apache.org/download.html

make sure that JAVA_HOME exists in your user variables or in the system variables and it is set to the location of your JDK, e.g. C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_02 and that %JAVA_HOME%\bin is in your Path environment variable.

What operating system are you using? Windows? Linux? MacOS?

The document was designed to start from scratch. But I think you are correct here, it should be updated.

I created a jira-issue for this:
